Who it's for

Ports & Large Estates

Induction for large-footprint port operations.

Vast estates, multiple access points, high-risk zones. Inductio guides new starters through every corner — with automatic staff introductions at each stop.

The problem

What induction looks like today.

01

New starters get lost on day one

Large estates are overwhelming. Without a clear guide, people miss key areas, skip checkpoints, and start their first week already confused.

02

Key contacts are names on a page

Starters are handed a list of people to know. They never actually meet them, so when something goes wrong, they don't know who to call.

03

H&S compliance is hard to evidence

You know the briefing happened. Proving it to a regulator — with evidence of who answered what, where, and when — is a different problem entirely.

Why this sector

Built for estates measured in hectares, not corridors

A port induction has to cover ground a normal site walk never could: live quaysides with crane and rail movements, lock and marine operations, ISPS-controlled security zones, engineering sheds, and the long distances between them. The hazards change every few hundred metres, and so do the people responsible for them. Inductio turns that scale from a problem into the structure of the induction itself — each zone gets its own narrative, its own safety questions, and its own named host, introduced face to face.

For harbour authorities and operators working under the Port Marine Safety Code, the evidential side matters as much as the walk. Every Inductio run produces a timestamped record of who was inducted, which areas of the estate they physically visited, and how they answered the safety questions asked in each one — the kind of evidence that supports your safety management system rather than another signature sheet filed in a cabinet.

How Inductio works on a port estate

A guided walk through every stop. Verified at every step.

  1. 01

They get a WhatsApp link before day one

No app to install. No account to create. Just a link, a start code, and instructions for which gate to arrive at — useful when your estate has half a dozen entrances.

  2. 02

The guide walks them across the estate

The AI guide narrates the route — quayside, lock control, engineering sheds, operations room — with turn-by-turn directions between stops. Distance is part of the design, not a problem.

  3. 03

    Zone-specific safety questions, logged

Quayside questions on the quayside, marine questions at lock control, workshop questions in engineering. Natural language answers, scored and timestamped at the point they were asked.

  4. 04

    Location challenges confirm presence

Each stop ends with a task that can only be completed standing there — reading a berth number, photographing a lifebuoy station. You know they covered the ground, not skimmed the map.

  5. 05

A completion card for every starter

At the end, each starter receives a branded completion card with their name, H&S score, time, and every checkpoint visited across the estate.

How Inductio helps

What induction looks like with Inductio.

Turn-by-turn guidance across the estate

The AI guide tells new starters where to go next, what to look for when they arrive, and who they're about to meet. Nobody gets lost.

Automatic staff pings at every checkpoint

The right person is pinged automatically as the group approaches their location. No chasing. Real introductions, every time.

Full compliance log, exportable on demand

Every answer, every timestamp, every stage. One export covers everything a regulator or auditor needs to see.

Common questions

Questions from ports & large estates teams.

How does Inductio handle a site with multiple entrances and access points?

The route starts wherever you tell it to. Different starter groups can begin at different gates, and the guide gives turn-by-turn directions between checkpoints, so nobody needs to already know the estate to navigate it. Routes can also branch — office staff and quayside staff can walk different versions of the same induction.

Can it cover ISPS security zones and restricted areas?

Yes. Restricted areas are handled as stops with their own access briefing and questions — the guide explains the rules at the boundary, asks the questions, and logs the answers without requiring entry. Where escorted access is part of your induction, the zone host is pinged to meet the group at the boundary.

Does the record support Port Marine Safety Code compliance?

It supports the evidential side of your safety management system: a timestamped log showing who was inducted, which areas of the estate they visited, what safety questions they were asked in each, and how they answered. That moves your induction evidence from attendance to demonstrated understanding.

What about contractors and visiting drivers, not just new employees?

Anyone with WhatsApp can run an induction — there are no accounts or apps. Many estates run a short contractor route alongside the full new-starter route: same system, different stops and questions, separate records. A haulier can complete the vehicle-route briefing before they reach the gate.

How long does a full-estate induction take a new starter?

It depends on your route, but most large-estate runs are designed for 90 minutes to half a day, including host meetings. Because the run is self-paced and the hosts are pinged automatically, it doesn't need a staff member walking alongside the whole way — the time cost falls on the starter, not the team.

How long does setup take for a large estate?

Days, not months. We walk the route with you (physically or on a map), write the stage narratives and zone questions with your marine and HSE leads, and load your host list. Most of the elapsed time is your team agreeing the route — the build itself is fast.

Inductio also runs on energy & utilities and manufacturing & logistics sites.
